There are plenty of ways that people use cannabis to better themselves and their health. In fact, most of my time writing these articles is just to tell you about all the different things that you can do with cannabis. Today, we are going to be talking about using marijuana for sleep. Now, anyone who is familiar with cannabis likely knows where this is going. As of right now, there are a lot of myths about cannabis that are going right now. You’ve seen the media headlines talking about cannabis safety, myths, dangers, and all of that stuff.

However, there are certain things about marijuana that are just undoubtedly true and have been proven by scientific research and clinical studies. One such truth involves sleep while using cannabis. In fact, cannabis has been used by people across the United States for years in order to fall asleep at least 30 minutes faster on average, and also wake up in the morning feeling more rested. Now that marijuana is becoming more legal throughout the United States, both in the recreational and medicinal industry, it is safe to say that more people are getting curious about how to use cannabis for sleep. Today’s article is meant to set the record straight when it comes to how people use medical marijuana to fall asleep at night. We are going to bust some of the myths that have been going around too. After all, I would hate for any of you lovely people to be walking with false information about cannabis.
So what is the first myth about cannabis and sleep? Well, some people have come up with the idea that THC is the only part of weed that can help with sleep. If you did not already know, THC is the component of marijuana that allows one to feel intoxicated and high. Actually, this is not the truth when it comes to sleep. While THC does play a big part in helping people to relax and fall asleep, we also need to keep in mind the role that CBD plays as well. Cannibidiol is a compound found in marijuana that can aid in regulating sleep cycles and help the brain to release cortisol (which is a natural sedative in our brains). CBD is well known to be good at helping reduce inflammation of different bodily diseases, but it can also lessen anxiety, reduce pain, and overall help people naturally sleep better at night. So when you are at the dispensary the next time around and are wanting to pick up something to help you sleep, don’t just look at the THC content! In fact, pick a strain that is high in CBD as well to find the best results when it comes to sleeping with marijuana.

Another myth that is out there about using cannabis for sleep is that there are no risks or side effects. People seem to assume that, since marijuana is a natural plant, there can be no harm in using it to help you sleep. In reality, this is not necessarily true. While cannabis is generally much more risk free than other prescriptions used to treat insomnia, there are definitely some drawbacks that one should consider when using marijuana as a sleep aid in the long term. One such drawback is that it can contribute to some sleepy hangovers in the morning if you use higher doses. You may wake up feeling particularly groggy or half asleep. While this happens with all other types of sleep aids, it is something to keep in mind.
